The two main keywords are 'new product development' and 'supply chain design'. The main goal of my research is to integrate supply chain design decisions into the new product development process.
Cooper and Kleinschmidt (1993) describe stage-gate processes as dividing new product development into a predetermined set of stages, each consisting of prescribed, multifunctional and parallel activities with gates that are quality control checkpoints.
Melnyk et al. (2014) view supply chain design (and the resulting supply chains) as being the result of a process that is shaped by three salient dimensions that have a hierarchical relationship: influencers, design decisions and building blocks.
