I have been employed in the Creative and Cultural Industries since the age of 19, firstly as an actor/singe (professional), then as a front of house and backstage worker during periods of tertiary study and between stage contracts' I have lectured Drama in Education at a tertiary level, as well as Theatre history, production, acting, directing and as a practitioner working within the stage and small screen industries at the same time.
I have been a preforming arts reviewer for a State-based radio program, weekly broadcast live to air, for the National Broadcaster in Australia.
I have been a union member, Industry representative and member of Industry groups which resulted in my attendance at the first ever National Performing Arts Roundtable at Parliament House, Canberra.
I then trained as a researcher and was employed on many qualitative research contracts over thirty years. I have worked as 'policy researcher' for organisations as diverse as Teaching Unions, Equal Opportunity campaigns in education, local and State Government Service provision and planning, then most recently within the Higher Education Sector focused on Creative Industries, creative writing, higher education arts pedagogies, policy, and communication and development consultation on inclusion, disability and mental health discrimination in an intersection with gender inequality and lack of equal access to employment within the Tertiary Arts sector. |
